This grade is commonly known as “18-8” stainless steel, as it contains 18% chromium and 8% Nickel. 304 stainless steels are widely used to resists ordinary rusting in most applications. Both grades 304 and 304L can be made available seamless pipes and welded pipes form. We mainly have ready stock of 304/304L pipes. Grade 304L is widely used by the fabrication industry and all standard welding techniques can be used on 304L pipes. The “L” in 304L stands for “Low Carbon Content”, indicating a maximum carbon content of 0.035%. The “H” in 304H stands for “High Carbon Content”, indicating carbon content of not less than 0.04% and not more than 0.10%.
The tensile and yield strength of 304H stainless steel is greater than 304L, as the higher carbon content increases its strength. Stainless steel 304H grade pipes are widely used for manufacturing boilers, pressure vessels and heat exchangers for fertilizer plants, chemical plants, petroleum refineries, and power generation plants.

ASTM A312 304/304L: Seamless and straight-seam welded austenitic pipe intended for high temperature and general corrosive service. Filler metal not permitted during welding.
ASTM A358 304/304L: Electric fusion welded austenitic pipe for corrosive and/or high temperature service. Typically only pipe up to 8 inch is produced to this specification. Addition of filler metal is permitted during welding.
ASTM A790 304/304L: Seamless and straight-seam welded ferritic/austenitic (duplex) pipe intended for general corrosive service, with a particular emphasis on resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
